I recently launched a digital marketing agency in Tokyo. Before this, I worked as a freelance digital marketer. During my first year of freelancing, I helped my very first client, a grocery shop owner in Gunma, Japan, generate over 100 million yen (Ichi Oku) in total sales. As a newcomer to digital marketing, I never imagined achieving such success.
My client came to me with just 30 regular customers in his physical store. I suggested expanding his business online through a Facebook page and a mobile app. He took my advice, and I started by charging a modest 100,000 yen per month, which was incredibly low. From this, I kept 70,000 yen for myself and allocated 30,000 yen to Facebook Ads. Within three months, we hit a sales target of 65,000 USD, equivalent to around 10 million yen. Seeing the results, my client increased my fee to 5% of his total sales, roughly 500,000 yen per month. With an ad spend of just 500 USD, we consistently achieved at least 65,000 USD in monthly sales—a return on investment that was beyond belief.
Over the year, my client gained about 5,000 regular customers and was extremely satisfied with the results. Now, he pays me 5% of his total monthly sales, which amounts to around 6,500 USD or 1 million yen per month—more than enough for my mother and me.
I am now focused on helping small business owners with tight budgets. Just last month, I had a client with a marketing budget of 1,000 New Zealand Dollars. I offered my services for free and invested the entire amount in Google Ads for his painting business.
I love digital marketing even more than beautiful women. 😛 My goal is to become a digital marketing consultant who supports business owners with limited budgets. This passion gives my life a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
I care deeply about my clients, regardless of their financial situation. For me, the love for digital marketing is more than enough.
Best regards,
Phyo
